Live in person and live-streamed, Winchester Unitarian Society's acclaimed Jazz in the Sanctuary presents Mid-Century Classics from the Record Cabinet, Friday, January 30th, at 8:00 PM.
From tunes that once drifted out of radios and record players to standards that have filled clubs for decades, the program invites you to settle in and enjoy a fabulous night of jazz that feels both timeless and welcoming.
Selections include such jazz classics as Horace Silver's bossa nova-based Song for My Father, Thelonious Monk's adventurous Monk's Dream and Hackensack 1965, Dave Brubeck's lively Rondo à la Turk, and Ahmad Jamal's lilting rendition of Nat Simon's Poinciana. Also on the line-up are jazz renditions by jazz greats of the Beatles' She's Leaving Home and Blackbird, the English Folk tune Billy Boy, and more.
Music will be performed by Lihi Haruvi on saxophone, John Kramer on piano, Rick McLaughlin on bass, and Yoron Israel on drums.
